PRACTICUM 2 Primary Level

In this second stage of my practicum period, once again I feel I have put into practice the theory we have been working on. Therefore, I have tried to use all my previous knowledge to achieve the goals of this phase. I had never taught in primary so there were fears to face and rest, as it had happened when I was in kindergarten, so the challenge was even greater but worth!!

August has arrived and so I´m ready to start my practicum in Primary. I have been given 6th form, there are 19 students and they are working on Pirates. It is a great topic to motivate the students´ imagination and creativity. For the very first lesson, and as we are working on storytelling, I have chosen a pirate story but with a very "unexpected" ending. This is so because it has a moral. The idea is to use it not only to create the context to introduce the target structure but also to foster upper thinking skills.

I had also asked the students to write their names on a sort of triptych to have their names on. It certainly helped me a lot call the sts by their names or nicknames and make my comments or questions in a more personalized way.
